Programmer, Researcher & Curator
Sarah has worked as a Festival Director, Researcher, Programmer, commissioner and Curator in a wide variety of contexts.
She delivered the multi arts 90+ event MUDfest Student Arts Festival in 2005 as the Director, she has worked as a curator, events and creative program manager at Manchester’s Urbis ( 2005-2007) and has programmed and hosted talks, conferences and forums that examine artistic practice and political intersections, commissioned international artists for both small scale contemporary arts interventions and large scale musical theatre performances. She has also worked an Interpretations officer managing written content for exhibitions and museum installations. As Artistic Director and CEO of St Martins Youth Arts Centre, Sarah was responsible for trasforming the company vision and initiating its acclaimed work created by children for adult audiences.
Sarah was the Research Associate on Arts Access Victoria’s ’Beyond Access” Project, which delivered a symposium and publication investigating inclusive arts practice in Australia. She continues to work as a Research Fellow on the Australian Research Council funded project ‘Disability Arts in Australia : The Last Avant Garde?” with a national team of artists and academics.
Currently, Sarah is undertaking a practice-led PhD funded by an Australian Postgraduate Award at the Victorian College of the Arts investigating ethical dramaturgies in the practice of creating contemporary performance work with children for adult audiences.
Sarah has delivered papers in a range of academic and industry fora on her research interests, and is a sessional lecturer and tutor at the VCA.
